No any kid who smoked, had signs of chronic asthma or lung pathology was involved in the study.
Patients had to inform about their adverse reactions per telephone within 72 hours. So, it was reported about cough during nighttime, wheeze, shortness of breath and intolerance for exercises. Every sign was evaluated according to a score that was ranged from 0 to 4. 0 meant no any effect; 4 meant the highest severity level.
Only four children out of 82 the kids that were given high dosages of inhaled corticosteroids had to apply systemic corticosteroids. Two2 of them were given doubled measures; others two were administering the measure that was more increased by 8 times than a typical one.
According to the results of the study, usefulness of the medicines, placebo effect, supervision of health care providers and treatment of patients during early stages of asthma exacerbation were responsible for getting good results.
