Jeffrey George is the founder of a former popular clinic linked with hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was named “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was charged with illegal sales of anabolic steroids. As it was mentioned by investigators, he began todistribute controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact Jeffrey George participated in illegal activity of pain clinics located in Florida. He sold steroids per internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They earned 40 million dollars due to illegal sales of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their several charges. Jeffrey George faced also a charge of a murder because a client of his clinic had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal operation with the help of his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in various magazines linked with fitness as a part of therapy conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George because of steroids. He was charged with possession of anabolic steroids , intending to distribute them in 2003. This man was sentenced to 8 months in prison. Then this person was involved in illegal distribution of anabolic steroids, intending to bypass Florida’s laws that allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. This man didn’t have any medical education. But he established the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed some doctors who prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. He got 5, 000 dollars per week for prescriptions of steroids for clients of George’s clinic.
Since steroids were sold over internet and customers were far from the clinic, they were required to perform certain tests in clinics that were located near their houses. Then they filled results of tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per email. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
A lot of sales consultants of ”South Beach Rejuvenation” took anabolic steroids too. Moreover, they bought large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and distributed them on the side. They also recommended their clients how to apply and combine steroids in order to reach more positive effects in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to found a clinic to sell steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was opened.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two physicians that were employed by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They got 1, 000 dollars weekly.
The persons that established “South Beach Rejuvenation” and “LA Health and Rejuvenation” and physicians hired by them were indicted on some charges, including illegal distribution of anabolic steroids and prescriptions via internet.

One of the chapters describes methods to induce sex drive in older people. She doesn’t make any referencies to steroids.
Jane Fonda said about unpleasant symptoms of the anabolic steroid testosterone in the interview for “The Sunday Telegraph”. She said that she had ceased applying the anabolic steroid testosterone because she had had acne due to this medicine . Nevertheless, Jane Fonda recommends taking the steroid testosterone to improve sex life.
As it is known, the anabolic steroid testosterone is an effective preparation for enhancement of sex drive. But side reactions of this drug can be quite serious. The Food and Drug Administration didn’t approve this medicine to induce sex drive in women. Several persons confirm that conservative attitudes to sexuality of women disturbed the FDA from approval of this drug for female sex drive.

Actors explain how they increase muscles in short period of time
Steroids are definitively taken by different actors. You may see obvious changes in actors’ physique in short period of time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short period of time he plays a role with increased muscle mass. How can actors induce their muscle mass in short period of time? The answer is evident. They use anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they apply performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” increased their muscles significantly to play needed roles. Undoubtedly, this aspect caused questions about intake of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions linked with intake of performance-enhancing drugs.
It is known that Jason Momoa increased his muscles by 30 pounds to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, who also played in “Conan the Barabarian” pointed out that Momoa achieved that results not due to steroids. Jason Momoa said that he wanted to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without steroid use. It would be ideally, according to the words of this actor. But he mentioned that our world and life were not ideal. Momao pointed out that he had trained hardly. Furthermore, this actor followed a strict diet. He ate broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, he enhanced his muscle size by 20 pounds in order to play Thor. Chris Hemsworth said that he had eaten very much. He noticed that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. Chris Hemsworth claimed that it had been quite difficult to eat, when he was not hungry. Furthermore, Chris Hemsworth had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was very tiring.
It is interesting to mention that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this factor unreal without administration of steroids? Nevertheless, he confirmed that he hadn’t taken anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also enhanced muscles essentially in order to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He claimed that he had enhanced muscle size due to trainings and a strict diet.

Blood tests for HGH in the NFL
Players of the NFL distrust methods used by the WADA. Why did the distrust appear? Let try to understand the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) wants to test players of the National Football League for HGH. Althogh the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic words connected with the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Some specialists that are not related to the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods used by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of intake of steroids in American football, is sure that players of the NFL distrust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, confirms that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH must be transparent. The WADA uses the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to mention that according to several specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. Catlin confirms that this test is not useful for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test which can be applied by the WADA to catch sportspersons who apply HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t use the method of Sonksen to identify users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, employees of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they don’t see the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by scientists, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
Although scientists claim about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t desire to to use the other method.

Something that is claimed by the Salk Institute to be better than anabolic steroids
Scientists try to elaborate alternative medications to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They confirm that athletes may soon have another way to bulk up. The Salk Institute has claimed that the efforts of the scientists have success. Recent studies have shown that blocking of a genome regulator which is known as “NCoR1” causes increase of muscle size, energy and endurance. The leader of the researches conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, confirms that this knowledge can contribute in introduction of certain new products which will benefit not only for sportsmen and bodybuilders that train but also for people who have sedentary lifestyle.
The scientists of the Salk Institute notice about people that can’t do physical exercises because they have different health troubles, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or psychological aspects that cause sedentary lifestyle. The specialists intend to elaborate certain specific preparations that could benefit for sedentary persons so, as exercises benefit for healthy people. Now they make experiments with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they can lead to enhancement of muscle size in sedentary individuals. But persons that use anabolic steroids should train and alter their diets to achieve better effects.
If new preparations which suppress NCoR1 are developed by scientists successfully, they will make essential changes in sedentary people. But could you imagine which benefits will be caused in sportspersons?
But there is also an essential difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. It is known that anabolic steroids lead to undesirable symptoms; some of them can be quite dangerous for health and even for life. Moreover, anabolic steroids may cause serious unexpected symptoms especially in females. But as for NCoR1 suppression, specialists are sure that drugs that will block this genome regulator will not cause adverse reactions.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression that has got the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It represents results of various experiments that involved mice and nematodes. The experiments have shown that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle mass very much. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had more enhanced muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice which were given anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very precious for further studies and conclusions.
It is possible to note that elder persons and persons that have got muscle dystrophy will be soon involved in studies to find out positive effects of new potential medicines.

Role of law enforcement agencies in catching of athletes that take steroids
Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t participate in competitions 4 years. The suspension was claimed by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was accused in trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher sold more than 15 types of steroids. It was found out that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone belonged to the products which had been distributed by this sportsperson. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this sportsman to 9 month imprisonment.
It is interesting to mention that the shot-putter from Britain never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you think that it is strange? What could it mean? One may suppose that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not good enough to catch consumers of steroids who participate in international sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD put significant efforts to release sports from cheating and intake of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These agencies also collaborate with law enforcement organizations in order to reach the necessary results.
The UKAD pointed out that anti-doping officials would be allowed to supply information about names of athletes that administrated anabolic steroids.
This case displayed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement is very effective. It proved that law enforcement agencies may help greatly to detect the sportspersons that apply anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is not possible to overvalue the role of these agencies in catching of steroid users in sports. Andy Parkinson, the CEO of the UKAD, assures that if law enforcement organizations work together with the UKAD, they will have success.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain situation linked with intake of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had taken part in the illegal activity conducted by some of his relatives. This resulted in Fletcher’s suspension from competitions till November 8, 2015.

Several Spanish sportsmen confirm that Yannick Noah’s thoughts about steroids are not worthy to be published
Sportsmen from Spain criticized the French former tennis player, Yannick Noah. This person wrote an amazing article “La Potion Magique” which was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. This former sportsman points out in his work that Spanish athletes have several priorities and win competitions because they use anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He claims that Spain has got more loyal attitude to administration of steroids than France; that’s why Spanish sportspersons are more muscular and are successful in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a famous Spanish athlete, claims that Yannick Noah wrote totally stupid statements and comments in his work. He is surprised how Noah’s work was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadal, the winner of 10 Grand Slam titles, points out that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such thoughts that are worthy to be published. According to the athlete from Spain, statements of the former tennis player from France do not public attention.
David Ferrer, a well-known tennis player from Spain, claims that Yannick Noah is an ignorant person. Ferrer can’t understand how a person like Noah that was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works can say such things.
Tennis is not the only kind of sports in which Spain had success. Spanish basketball players won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, the Spanish cyclist, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football manager, point out that Yannick Noah has to prove, if he claims that Spanish sportsmen administrate steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he is not able to prove it, he must close his mouth.
Athletes from France agree with attitude of Spanish sportsmen towards Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a celebrated tennis player from France, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the director of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that people that do not agree with the idea of Noah’s article.

Certain parents do not care of their children’s health, producing steroids
Ruben Jaramillo, a person in New Mexico, is accused in child abuse. Police raided his house and discovered that his house was an underground lab which had manufactured anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, a person can be accused in child abuse, if he\she even only allows children to be there, where the chemical substances or proper equipment applied for production or storage of these forbidden preparations are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team raided the house, they saw that there was an underground lab in it. Police oficcers discovered several kilograms of raw powder for manufacture of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of anabolic steroids. Certain vials were labeled “Testosterone Cypionate”. Moreover, police officers told that information linked with prices, quantities and types of steroids had been recovered too. Chemical substances were in different rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s 2 daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police invaded the house.
As it is known, New Mexico is not the only state where the production of anabolic steroids can be treated as child abuse. At least 10 other states have got the same laws. Such laws have certain basis.
Chemical ingredients may be toxic. They may destroy children’s health. It is important also to keep in mind that there is a risk of fires and explosions of several chemical substances. Parents who manufacture anabolic steroids at home neglect their children’s health. The children face great dangers in such situations. How may children live in a methamphetamine lab and avoid dangers?
Parents who just use steroids differ from those who manufacture them, especially at home.
This is the first case in Albuquerque, when production of anabolic steroids is treated as child abuse by prosecutors.

The media neglects to publish important stories related to sports
Georges Laraque described his difficult life of sports in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. He wanted to share his biography with others. Georges Laraque noticed also about administration of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These facts about intake of steroids in NHL seemed to be quite interesting. The Canadian press published just the quotes linked with this endless subject. The rest of the book was ignored.
Georges Laraque claimed in an interview that he had never taken performance-enhancing drugs. Moreover, he noted that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the athletes that had taken steroids. The book is indeed an autobiography.
The author mentions about some ways to determine whether a hockey player uses steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways described by him:
1. A hockey player whose weight has been increased by more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be applying performance-enhancing drugs.
2. A hockey player that reduces his weight significantly in short period of time to correspond to the rules of the Winter Olympics must be using steroids.
Undoubtedly, all sportspersons, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the World Anti-Doping Agency. That’s why they stop using the banned preparations certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to avoid probability of testing positive for these medications.
But this is not the chief idea of the book. George Laraque wanted to show that a child is required to put many efforts to become a famous professional sportsperson in spite of racial intolerance and bullying. But the press is not interested in this theme. The media wants to publish stories connected with administration of steroids by sportsmen.
The auhor did not have a goal to name the hockey players that utilized steroids.
Undoubtedly, the media asks George Laraque to mention the names of the NHL’s players that use steroids.

Which were the results of Operation Bulk Up?
A two-year investigation detected and shut a huge lab linked with steroids. The investigation was led under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-planned activity of the certain authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a dealer of steroids distributed these medicines to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office received the information about it, the investigations started. The authority made a decision to send an officer who had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid distributor. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this need.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only individual at this association that was told about the investigation. He could keep all details he knew about the activity of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, a huge organization linked with distribution of steroids was detected.
32 persons participated in the illegal activity related to distribution of steroids. They were accused in corrupt activities, trafficking and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to catch just manufacturers and distributors of steroids. Although it didn’t focalize on clients who purchased these medicines, the officials noted that professional sportspersons and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The law enforcement seized 600,000 dollars that were considered to be a profit from distribution of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA told openly to media about the results of the investigation. He didn’t fear to notice that he had taken part in this activity to catch the criminal organization. Caroll said that he was too glad to find out about the positive results.
It is important to notice that it was quite difficult to detect the illegal organization. Major Burke had to put efforts to get steroids from a dealer. As a result of the investigation, an underground lab in Tennessee was detected. It produced steroids in injectable form. The raw was imported from China. The leaders of selling were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to Major Burke, personal interactions between dealers and customers were avoided in this organization. There was a specific organized locker system that gave possibility to prevent personal interactions.
Although this activity connected with manufacture and distribution of steroids was well-organized, the authorities could detect it to shut the lab. The result of the investigation is an example that confirms following statement: if the authority gives chief priority to such operations, positive results may be reached.

The WADA doesn’t want to use the better method of testing for HGH

All sprinters in 100 meter final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics were suspected in application of anabolic steroids. Could you imagine it? Although numerous things were done to avoid intake of the banned preparations in sport, it is not free from these preparations.

Maurice Green, the American sportsperson, used steroids, testosterone cream, EPO and some stimulants. Angel Guillermo Heredia told that he had provided these medications to Maurice Green. But it is necessary to note that this American athlete started to get these medications from Heredia after he had received 2 medals in Olympics.
However Victor Conte doesn’t know about all nuances connected with getting and application of steroids by these all sportsmen who took part in the Sydney Olympics, he is sure that performance-enhancing drugs played their role at the women’s 100 meter final of the 2003 Championship in France. Conte sold steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, bought the banned products from Conte too. After she had tested positive for Modafinil, she lost her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had utilized tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the progress of anti-doping activities connected with steroids in sport.

Establishment of WADA related to the case of Kathy Jager
Kathy Jager, a well-known athlete, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this athlete was banned from participation in competitions. She can’t compete till the age of 70. This decision was made by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This woman used steroids because these medicines were recommended by the doctor to improve her hormone balance. According to the establishments of World Anti-Doping Agency, athletes may use steroids for medical needs and take part in competitions, if they have a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But as it is known, Kathy Jager didn’t have a TUE that could give her the authorization to apply these drugs without being banned from competitions.
It is important to observe that this famous person doesn’t treat intake of anabolic steroids seriously.
This famous sportswoman tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between people that were from the age of 55 till 59. It was the first time she was banned for intake of banned preparations. Now it was her second time.
As it was found out, this sportsperson took EstraTest HS which contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a tablet.
She said that she had taken EstraTest for medical purposes. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and refused to allow her to compete.
The case related to Kathy Jager caused a lot of debates. Some people condemned her for application of steroids, others justified her.
When this woman was banned the first time, she applied steroids in order to prevent menopausal troubles. The medicines were prescribed by her doctor. Then she ceased taking recommended medicines and started to apply herbal preparations.
So, this sportswoman can’t take part in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had had a TUE, she could compete. But nobody knows whether the WADA will give her a TUE or not.
