British driver that has hit another motorist in face uses steroid excuse

Although it is not yet displayed scientifically whether “roid rage” is a side result of steroids, these drugs are blamed for different crimes quite often.
Michael Barton, a person from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. Paul Gard was driving the Ford Fiesta. Barton had overtaken Paul Gard. But then Michael Barton had to pull back in front of him, since another car was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. So, he had to brake suddenly. Barton got angry, stopped his Volkswagen Golf, broke the wing mirror of Paul Gard’s Ford Fiesta and hit the man in the face. Then Gard’s wife called police. While she was calling, Barton drove off calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old man that has a child of two years old, utilizes steroids for bulking results. So, it has been confirmed that these preparations affected his behavior. The defense attorney for this young person claimed that steroids influenced negatively on temperament of his client, since these drugs increased his testosterone levels.
Earlier Barton was convicted for certain crimes, including domestic violence. Last year this young man pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving incautiously due to his anger following assaults.
The judge Patrick Hooton at Portsmouth Crown Court Deputy Circuit claimed that he was not sure that steroids led to improper behavior. But he noticed that it was entirely mad to get angered and hit a man in the face just because he flashed him. The judge confirmed that Barton’s behavior was too disgraceful and he announced: “you ought to go to prison”.
So, this man was given 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also enforced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of the car.

Valuable features of green tea for dopers

Sportspersons become more and more sophisticated in steroid use. They find out new ways to mask their administration of forbidden preparations. Certain sportspersons spend time studying scientists’ affirmations which could help them to hide that they dope. Nowadays a method has been discovered: sportspersons may mask usage of testosterone with the help of green tea.
Testosterone represents a hormone that is produced in body naturally. Thus, it may be difficult for anti-doping agencies to determine that an athlete has used testosterone. T: E ratio testing is usually utilized by anti-doping agencies. Such tests can show uncommon ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it is not able to manifest difference between testosterone that has been produced in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, creams, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have determined that green tea has such substances which are called “catechins”. They are capable to inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme promotes joining glucuronic acid to testosterone. In case UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the compounds which are capable to mask testosterone use, are contained in green and white tea. Black tea doesn’t have such substances.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted some experiments. They confirm that a cup of strong green tea hides usage of testosterone.
So, those sportspersons that administer testosterone can reduce measures of testosterone that are excreted in urine by drinking of green or white tea. Green or white tea has capacity to block excretion of testosterone, enhancing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the discovering by the experts. If this process occurs, it means that it is not worthy to subject athletes to urine tests. Blood tests should be performed in order to detect usage of testosterone.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s expert, claims that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping organizations in order to avoid fooling of urine tests.

Wim Vansevenant doesn’t deserve to be punished

The case connected with Wim Vansevenant, a former Belgian rider, altered essentially. An analysis displayed that the doping preparations that were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents listed on the labels. This person was cheated by the company where he ordered the products.
Last year several packages sent to Wim Vansevenant by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. It was written on the intercepted bottles that they contained the doping drug TB-500. It represents a peptide hormone which can enhance muscle power and speed healing. An investigation was started by the Belgian authorities. It was suspected that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping preparations. This athlete rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of his career he was working with this team.
An analysis of the bottles intercepted by customs manifested that only amino acids were contained. Wim Vansevenant’s lawyer argued that the accusations had to be dropped. He pointed out that since the medication was not linked with doping, the former rider didn’t deserve to be punished.
The prosecutor’s spokesperson Johan Lescrauwaet confirmed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the preparation which was indicated on the label and to the affirmations of the former sportsperson.
Only amino acids were found in the bottles. No any doping drug. So, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping products to other persons.
The hearing of Wim Vansevenant was scheduled to be later.

Toxicologist Bruce Goldberger: Unsuitable ways are used by anti-doping organizations

Testimonies of the celebrated toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably impact greatly on decision of the court in the case linked with Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This expert testified on behalf of Roger Clemens. However he was called in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies didn’t correspond to those that are ordinarily provided by anti-doping organizations. He testified on behalf of the accused baseball player.
Bruce Goldberger is known due to his participation in various news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t abstain from criticism. He criticized several anti-doping agencies, including the WADA.
The toxicologist expressed criticism for feds in the case linked with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” presented by Brian McNamee to prove that his client took steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal trainer of this sportsman, presented a beer can with used needles and syringes which had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with Roger Clemens’ blood. The beer can was stored by McNamee more than 6 years. The toxicologist argued that such basis was not reasonable.
Bruce Goldberger confirmed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He noticed that no one could prove that Roger Clemens used steroids and HGH, basing on the beer can, because the theory of contamination could present.
So, Bruce Goldberger didn’t support the evidence used by the feds. Earlier he also expressed criticism related to evidence used by some anti-doping organizations.
Some years ago the toxicologist Bruce Goldberger testified on behalf of Floyd Landis, an American celebrated cyclist, when this sportsman appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab situated in France discovered traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were used by the lab. Bruce Goldberger used similar words and criticism during the appeal connected with Floyd Landis.
Goldberger said during an interview that the WADA utilized inadequate methods and violated rights of sportspersons in order to have the success in anti-doping programs.
Floyd Landis didn’t have success in his appeal and admitted that he had used steroids, EPO and certain other related medicines.
No one knows which results will be achieved by Roger Clemens. Will the government prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to using forbidden preparations? Or will be the results opposite?

Roger Clemens doesn’t have dramatically enhanced muscles that could be serve as evidence of steroid use

Each baseball fan knows that Roger Clemens is accused in obstruction of justice. It is believed that he has lied before Congress about intake of steroids and HGH.
Rusty Hardin, the attorney that was hired by Roger Clemens to defend him, noted that there was no any difference in physical appearance of Roger Clemens before, during and after his trainings with the coach Brian McNamee. The attorney confirmed that this aspect was a proof that Roger Clemens hadn’t applied steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Increase of muscle mass is normally utilized by federal prosecutors as proof that a sportsperson takes steroids or/and other related medications. But this tendency was not used during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. No one could claim that Roger Clemens’ muscles manifested that he had administered steroids and HGH. It is one of differences between the case against Roger Clemens and that against Barry Bonds.
As for the governmental case against Barry Bonds, federal prosecutors called numerous persons in the trial who could testify that anabolic steroids led to great changes in physical appearance of this athlete. They considered that application of steroids led to increase of muscle size, increased size of the head and testicular atrophy in Barry Bonds.
Thus, Rusty Hardin presented 4 photos of Roger Clemens. The pictures displayed physique of Roger Clemens, including the period of time when Clemens was working with Brian McNamee. The attorney noticed that the pictures showed that there was no difference in physical changes that could manifest that he applied steroids and HGH.
The defense attorney for Roger Clemens confirmed that the photos manifested only the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern also claimed that she didn’t observe any changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens experienced neither back acne, nor abnormal development of breast tissue, nor dramatically increased muscles.
Phil Garner, a former baseball player, also affirmed that there were not any essential changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with Brian McNamee.
The Assistant US Attorney Steve Durham tried to discredit the argument about lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens during the cross-examination of Phil Garner. He noted that while some steroids enhanced muscle mass, others didn’t induce getting muscles. Thus, he confirmed that the pictures could say nothing about steroid use.
Federal prosecutors desire to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they affirm that changes in physical appearance of Barry Bonds manifest that he has utilized steroids, lack of changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t applied steroids.

Steroids were used by Norwegian man, while he was preparing for massacre

Anders Behring Breivik was charged with murder of 70 persons. He bombed buildings of government in Oslo (Norway). Several teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also killed by him on Utoya island in July 2011.
This person prepared for the deadly actions significantly. He noted that he had had cycles with steroids.  Since he applied steroids, these medications were blamed for the crimes by many journalists.
But what did experts confirm? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested affirmations of these reporters. The specialist Joerge Moerland confirmed that anabolic steroids should not be demonized for the crimes. But the forensic toxicologist admitted that it was impossible to contest that these preparations could cause aggressiveness in Anders Breivik.
An “ECA stack”, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also applied by the murderer. Actually, this stack is normally administered by bodybuilders for fat burning and pre-workout stimulation. It was determined that Breivik has applied great quantity of the combination. The amount taken by him was by 50 % greater than it is allowed under rules of European Union.
The forensic toxicologist Joerge Moerland affirmed that Breivik’s behavior was more essentially influenced by the ECA than steroids. He pointed out that ephedrine might cause desire to be implicated in risky activities. Moerland claimed that the killer’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nonetheless, the toxicologist Joerge Moerland noted about limitation of the ECA’ impact. The amount of caffeine consumed by Breivik was equal to approximately 5 cups of coffee. So, the quantity was not enough increased in order to be demonized for the crimes.
The murderer described his intake of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other persons ordering steroids at Alinshop.
The killer noted that he didn’t like Dianabol because it could cause fluid retention. He explained that Dianabol could add more body weight than users could carry. According to his statements, about 50 % of the mass gained due to this steroid is fluid retention. Anders Breivik decided to administer some combinations that were appropriate for his purposes.
Anders Breivik studied advantages and disadvantages of different steroids in order to choose those who were proper for his needs. He affirmed that Testosterone Propionate had certain superiorities over Dianabol. He also supposed that stacks of Dianabol with Aromasin or intake of Dianabol followed by intake of Winstrol could benefit substantially.
So, the killer prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to choose and plan steroid cycles and administration of dietary supplements. He also thought over each detail connected with attacks and murders.
However some individuals claimed that Anders Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is evident that the crimes have been committed consciously.

Sydney Morning Herald: there is close connection between steroid use and motorcycle gangs

According to the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald”, outlaw motorcycle gangs are responsible for spread of illegal steroid use in Australia. The gangs get significant profit and reduced risks.
The detective Nick Bingham has said that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation related to usage of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when outlaw motorcycle gangs are arrested for violation of other laws.
According to Nick Bingham, however New South Wales police officers don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when searches for weapons and stimulants are conducted.
Nick Bingham has claimed that they commonly seize such quantities of steroids from motorcycle gangs that are just for personal usage. Quantities of other medicines that are commonly found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
Nick Bingham has noticed that criminals like using anabolic steroids in order to get threatening muscular physiques. They desire to look big and powerful.
However Nick Bingham is sure that gangs possess steroids only for personal application, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with his point of view. It reports that motorcycle gangs are involved in smuggling of steroids.
Although gyms are claimed to be the most important sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is affirmed by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that certain gyms have direct links with motorcycle gangs. The Herald claims that many seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are related closely to distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to affirmations of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been enhanced obviously in comparison with past years.
Over 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and more than 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
The majority of seizures were connected with personal intake of steroids smuggled by bodybuilders.

David Segui’s statements about steroid use by Roger Clemens

Federal prosecutors want the judge Reggie Walton to permit the former first baseman of the Major League Baseball David Segui to testify in the trial linked with the case of Roger Clemens. This player had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former coach of Roger Clemens. It is claimed that they have spoken about administration of steroids by the former well-known baseball player.
McNamee was chosen to testify against Roger Clemens because he turned out to be the only person that had direct knowledge about intake of steroids and other related medicines by Clemens. Furthermore, he kept injection equipment: vials, syringes and needles that were allegedly mixed with Roger Clemens’ blood. DNA analysis was conducted in order to confirm whether it was Clemens’ blood.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, confirmed that the steroid evidence was created by Brian McNamee after the questioning by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors claimed that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he kept certain things as evidence of steroid use by certain players in 2001. It was certain years before Roger Clemens’ former trainer became the target of the investigation.
Information provided by Segui to federal prosecutors differed essentially from that presented to Jim Baumbach, a sportswriter. His affirmations presented to the sportswriter were published in an article in 2008. According to that article, Segui claimed that he had never spoken about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
David Segui learnt about implication of Brian McNamee into the trial of Roger Clemens only in 2006, when he read a piece of news in the Los Angeles Times.
Segui was quite open in his discussions about personal usage of steroids and other related medicines. He said that players of the Major League Baseball asked him many times whether he had utilized steroids. This person acknowledged that he had used them. But Segui affirmed that he had never spoken about usage of steroids with Brian McNamee.
Segui supported the decision of McNamee to store evidence about usage of prohibited medicines by his clients. According to David Segui, it is a correct decision because sometimes innocent persons are blamed but guilty persons are covered. Thus, Brian McNamee could help to support the truth.
Although federal prosecutors asked the judge Walton to permit Segui to provide testimony in the trial linked with Roger Clemens, the judge didn’t announce his decision yet.

Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency succeeds, catching dopers

The WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto tested positive for Nandrolone. He was tested by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA).
Andre Berto had to fight against Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. Andre Berto agreed to submit to random drug testing before the fight. Both “A” and “B” urine samples indicated about intake of Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested boxers and caught them administering steroids. The first boxer that tested positive this month due to tests conducted by the VADA was Lamont Peterson. He was scheduled to fight against Amir Khan. It seems to be strange that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. A carbon isotope ratio test conducted by the VADA displayed that testosterone of exogenous origin was in this fighter’s system some weeks before the fight.
Financial position of certain companies was affected due to tests conducted by the VADA. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost essential potential profit due to positives of Lamont Peterson. It was set by the CEO of the company Richard Schaeffer that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not cost so much because another boxer will possibly replace Andre Berto and will fight against Ortiz.
Berto didn’t explain what had led to his positives. This fighter hired the attorney Howard Jacobs who would represent and defeat him.
Berto said that he had never utilized steroids. So, he confirmed that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport because of hard workouts and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs was hired by numerous other sportspersons who turned out to be victims of contaminated dietary supplements.
It is claimed that since Nandrolone has quite long half life and it is detected easily, it isn’t widespread among doping sportspersons. But it has been determined many times that some dietary supplements contained the compound nandrolone which caused positives for steroids. But since sometimes not each ingredient is listed on the label, sportspersons become victims of contaminated dietary supplements.

Chael Sonnen should stop taking steroids before fight to prevent elevated testosterone levels on morning after match

The American mixed martial artist Chael Sonnen is allowed to apply anabolic steroids. The physician Timothy Trainor confirmed that this sportsman really experienced hypogonadism.
What does this condition represent? Hypogonadism is connected with insufficient secretion of the hormone testosterone. Doctors ordinarily recommend hormone replacement therapy in order to treat this condition.
This fighter has received a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). Thus, this athlete is allowed to utilize steroids for medical purposes and meet Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July 2012.
According to indications given by Sonnen’s physician, he has to apply injections of Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate twice a week. The measures which are prescribed have not been revealed. But under establishments of the Nevada Athletic Commission, blood serum levels of testosterone in this athlete should remain within normal range on the morning after the fight against Silva.
According to the doctor Trainor, those who fight, having TUE, should be tested on the morning after the match to determine whether they have taken something right before the competition.
Trainor believes that testosterone can produce performance-enhancing effects, if it is taken right before the fight. He states that injections must not be applied in the days before a match in order to prevent elevated testosterone levels.
But it seems that the NAC is not aware that steroids produce benefits linked with enhancement of performance, not only if they are taken right before competitions. Intake of steroids influences essentially on performance during trainings before competitions. And the results remain even after athletes stop administering them.
Chael Sonnen had enhanced testosterone levels at UFC 117. He confirmed that he had tested positive because he had been on TRT.  He appealed his suspension and it was reduced to 6 months from one year. But Chael Sonnen didn’t have any TUE that time.

Galabin Boevski decided to appeal his conviction related to imprisonment for illegal drug trade

Galabin Boevski, a Bulgarian weightlifter, World Champion and Olympic Champion, was sentenced to nine-month imprisonment because of illicit international drug trade. This person was arrested in October 2011 at the Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil after he tried to board the plane with 8 kg of cocaine. This sportsman was led to Bulgaria. The narcotic was estimated. It could be sold at the price of 500, 000 dollars on the streets in European countries.
Boevski is a celebrated athlete in Bulgaria. He is claimed to be one of the most well-known weightlifters in this country.
First he was caught using steroids in 1995. Of course, he was suspended.
Then this sportsman was caught using banned preparations in 2004. It was the second time when he violated doping laws. In fact, Galabin Boevski didn’t test positive for any prohibited medications. But anti-doping officials determined that he didn’t provide own urine. The urine that was provided by this weightlifter belonged to another person. As a result, Boevski received 8-year suspension. During serving the suspension he was caught trafficking cocaine.
Boevski became famous due to his success in weightlifting. This sportsperson won gold medals at several competitions: at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2001 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya.
At the 2003 World Championships in Vancouver Boevski and his teammates from Bulgaria provided urine samples that belonged to another individual. It was determined by anti-doping officials that the 3 urine samples were produced by one person. These sportspersons received suspensions. Boevski appealed the suspension but it was not successful.
Galabin Boevski broke several world records at different competitions. He held three world records. The best lifts of this sportsman were following: a 162, 5 kg snatch, 196, 5 kg clean and jerk and a 357, 5 kg of two lifts at the 1999 Championships.
It is strange but this athlete’s reputation was not spoiled in Bulgaria. He utilized his status of celebrity in sports in order to launch a Technogym fitness center in Sofia. The center was called Atama Wellness and Spa.
Furthermore, the Brazilian judge Maria Isabel do Prado noted that Galabin Boevski applied also his status of celebrity in sports in order to traffic the narcotic cocaine. She also noticed that this athlete utilized the participation of his daughter in a Brazilian tennis tournament in order to cover his illegal deals related to trafficking of the narcotic.
The weightlifter Galabin Boevski decided to appeal the conviction.

Why were Roger Clemens’ prosecutors shocked by Andy Pettitte’s testimony?

The desire of the federal government connected with the case of Roger Clemens was following: they wanted to prove that this sportsperson had lied before the Congress about administration of anabolic steroids and HGH. But the government couldn’t achieve this goal. It was expected that Andy Pettitte would say that Roger Clemens had acknowledged that he had used the prohibited drugs during a conversation in 1999 or in 2000. But the statement of Andy Pettitte was shocking for prosecutors. He claimed that he couldn’t affirm that Roger Clemens had used steroids and HGH because he was not sure.
Actually, why were the prosecutors shocked by the affirmation of Andy Pettittte? This man swore for the 2008 Congressional hearings on intake of steroids in the Major League Baseball that Roger Clemens admitted to intake of HGH. But he pronounced opposite statements at the Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington.
Michael Attanasio, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, asked Andy Pettitte whether he can say that he is 50-50 that he has understood wrongly Roger Clemens about HGH. Pettitte answered that he is really 50-50 about this aspect.
When Clemens’ prosecutors heard the answer of Andy Pettitte, they didn’t know what to do. They affirmed that Andy Pettitte never said this way, when he was asked several times.
The judge Reggie Walton noticed that he understood that Andy Pettitte’s answer has been conflicted. Actually, his testimony was following: “I don’t know”.
The attorneys for Roger Clemens used the moment of the prosecutors’ confusion. They asked the judge to brush aside Andy Pettitte’s testimony because he was 50-50. According to the attorneys, he probably misunderstood the athlete Roger Clemens or he can’t remember the details of the conversation.
The government has stated that the jury still allows considering the testimony of Andy Pettitte. ASUSA Dunham has pointed out that under federal laws jury is allowed to choose which affirmation to believe. He hopes that the jury will disregard the testimony which doesn’t support the government.
So, the testimony presented by Andy Pettitte and his wife caused problems. Testimonies of Andy’s wife during the first trial resulted in the declaration of a mistrial by the judge Walton.
Pettitte affirms that he is Roger Clemens’ friend. Clemens must also confirm that they are friends after Andy  Pettitte’s last testimony.

Cullen Mutrie probably produced steroids at home

Law enforcement officers came to Cullen Mutrie for a drug investigation. This ma shot five police officers at his home. As a result, the Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney was killed; other four police officials were wounded. The next morning this killer and a woman were found dead.
It is supposed that this person was utilizing steroids at the time of the shootout. Jane Young, the New Hampshire Associate Attorney General, claimed that toxicology reports were waiting in order to learn whether metabolites of steroids were in the body of this person.
Police officials affirmed that Mutrie had had a very muscular physique. This man worked at Genetix Fitness in Seabrook. It was claimed that he was 6 feet 3 inches tall. He weighed 275 pounds. During a search that was in July 2010 police officers discovered anabolic steroids at his home. The policeman Wayne Young saw them in a coffee table. He said that he had noticed a plastic bag with some vials. One vial was with powder; others contained solution. The labels indicated that they were steroids.
The New Hampshire State Crime Lab analyzed the vials. It was claimed that the vials contained such preparations, as Trenbolone Acetate, Sustanon 250, Boldenone Undecylenate and Nandrolone Decanoate.
The professor of kinesiology John Miller was asked whether a connection between the deadly actions and aggressiveness due to anabolic steroids could present. The specialist confirmed that it was plausible. But according to him, it is impossible to confirm that there was a direct link between administration of anabolic steroids and the crime.
John Miller suggested that steroids which were on the black market were provided from legitimate pharmaceutical companies. But he has been mistaken because the majority of steroids which are offered for sales on the black market are produced in underground labs. It is even suggested that Mutrie produced steroids.
Since a link between crimes and usage of steroids is a controversial question, not only policemen but also correspondents investigate the case linked with Cullen Mutrie.

Alistar Overeem’s doctor was called for his patient appeal hearing

Alistar Overeem, a UFC fighter, appealed his suspension which was received by him for intake of anabolic steroids on April 24, 2012. But he couldn’t win his appeal against members of NSAC. Alistar Overeem forfeited his license for nine months. Then Alistar Overeem will be allowed to return.
This fighter admitted that he had used injectable testosterone which was advised him by his doctor. Alistar Overeem utilized the strategy which was considered to be boring. He noticed that he had never utilized anabolic steroids or other related products knowingly. He tried to make the NSAC believe that his injectable application of steroids was accidental.
The defense attorney for Alistar Overeem was David Chesnoff who has been experienced in representing prominent athletes.
David Chesnoff called the personal physician of Alistar Overeem to testify during the hearing. It was thought that Dr. Molina would testify in defense for this athlete. Testimonies of this health care provider were very miserable. The doctor Molina provided an explanation for prescriptions of certain medications that led to Overeem’s enhanced testosterone: epitestosterone ratio.
The treating physician of Alistar Overeem acknowledged that he recommended and injected this fighter with a mixture of Toradol and Dexamethasone because he suffered from an injury. Actually, these medications are utilized for anti-inflammatory purposes. But usage of testosterone in case of injuries is not approved by the FDA.
It is believed that the physician Molina hasn’t informed this athlete that these drugs contain the anabolic steroid testosterone. But it is evidentially that he has never asked about it.
Thus, testimonies of the physician Molina turned out to manifest lack of the evidence related to clinical purposes for intake of prohibited medicines by Alistar Overeem. The physician couldn’t provide any reasonable explanation that could justify prescribing of Toradol and Dexamethasone to this athlete. Testimonies of the physician Molina worked against Alistar Overeem.
Actually, it became evident that Overeem was a victim of the doctor’s quack.
But it is possible to suggest that this strategy was designed by the defense attorney for this mixed martial artist.
The commissioner Pat Lundval was probably impressed by the defense of Overeem. She even called him a “smart guy”.
The members of the NSAC seemed to be convinced that Alistar Overeem has been really a great guy but he has surrounded himself with such questionable persons, as the health care provider Moline. They advised him to look for more qualified professionals in the future.

Jordan Matechuk was happily received by Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Jordan Matechuk, a player of the Canadian Football League, was busted by the US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). He was caught having more than 540 tablets of oral steroids and more than 260 ml of injectable steroids, when he was returning to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats training camp. Matechuck said that his depression was responsible for the decision to purchase and use anabolic steroids.
Jordan Matechuk noticed that he used anabolic steroids and marijuana in order to be able to get rid of his depression. The football player noticed that earlier he had taken anti-depressant remedies. Discontinuing utilizing anti-depressant medications probably resulted in intake of steroids.
Matechuk noted that he suffered from depression. He began to apply steroids and marijuana in order to feel better. He acknowledged that he was responsible for this condition. He wouldn’t have discontinued administering anti-depressant remedies. But he stopped using them. This factor led to steroid use.
The football player Matechuk pleaded guilty to possession of steroids and marijuana.
However he faced up to 2 years in prison, he was sentenced to 90 years in prison. But he was released after he served only 60 days.
Matechuk stated that there were several other conditions but he decided to keep them out of public knowledge.
The Canadian Football League provided him another possibility to play professional football.
He wrote a letter and sent it to every member of the team. Jordan Matechuk expressed his shame for his arrest related to possession and administration of steroids. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats didn’t want to receive the steroid user back to the team.
But the Winnipeg Blue Bombers decided to give him the second chance. Thus, Matechuk was happily accepted by this team.

Could over 3 kg of steroids be ordered for self-administration by one person?

Brenton Dowell, a bodybuilder from Australia, was caught possessing and importing great quantities of anabolic steroids in March 2011. It was defined that these steroids could be sufficient to be applied for over 60 years by one user. Numerous people thought that this bodybuilder would be sentenced to imprisonment. But Dowell avoided imprisonment successfully.
The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service noted that Brenton Dowell had attempted to import more than 3 kg of testosterone powder. The packages that contained the raw testosterone powder were mailed in September, October and November 2011. They were directed to 3 different places: to the home of Dowell, to his father and his stepfather.
Actually, such large quantities of raw testosterone powder could be ordered just for manufacture of anabolic steroids by underground labs in order to sell them on the black market. 3 kg of raw steroid powder could be utilized for getting of 1500 10-ml vials with ready medicines.
Len Hartnett, the defense attorney for Brenton Dowell, argued that the steroid powder had been ordered for his client’s self-administration. He added that Dowell’s usage of steroids was caused by bullying attacks that he received, when he was an overweight kid. So, according to the defense attorney, Brenton Dowell became addicted to bodybuilding and started to utilize steroids because he was an overweight kid.
The judge Graeme Hicks was impressed by words of the defense attorney Len Harnett who described experiences of Dowell in his childhood. The judge noticed that it could be concluded that Brenton Dowell had become obsessed by bodybuilding.
Thus, the judge believed the arguments of Len Harnett. Based on the descriptions and affirmations of the defense attorney, the judge Graeme Hicks concluded that the bodybuilder Brenton Dowell had purchased steroids personal intake and for sales to his friends in order to pay off personal administration.
The bodybuilder Brenton Dowell was sentenced to a fine of 10, 000 dollars and probation of two years.

Wrong affirmations about steroids

Georgina Howarth, a pathologist, confirmed that the death of Mohammed Belkhair, a 19-year guy, had been caused by usage of anabolic steroids. The doctor noticed that anabolic steroids had led to heart failure that had resulted in the death.
According to the pathologist Howarth, if this guy had not applied steroids, he would have lived today. She affirmed that intake of steroids was the only cause of the death. Georgina Howarth noticed that the death of this teenager was a lesson for every person to stay far from such drugs.
Mohammed Belkhair’s sister found him vomiting in his bedroom on May, 2011. He acknowledged that he had utilized steroids. The death occurred at the same day. It was reported that steroids had been presented in his system.
According to numerous articles, DHEA and Tamoxifen were 2 steroids that were found in the system of the guy. DHEA is sold overall in Britain and in the USA.
But actually, the news is misleading. Tamoxifen doesn’t belong to anabolic steroids. This drug has been initially elaborated in order to treat individuals who suffer from breast cancer. It has become popular among athletes and bodybuilders who utilize steroids due to its capacity to prevent aromatization of other substances.
It seems to be curiously but nothing was noted about arrest of Mohammed Belkhair. This factor might contribute in his death. This teenager was arrested on the night before his death by police officers. 4 different anabolic steroids were found in the room of this person. But the names of the steroids were not mentioned.
However the police encounter and arrest occurred several hours before the death of this teenager, the doctor Georgina Howarth didn’t investigate these conditions. Moreover, she didn’t present any explanation about this condition. Police officials revealed nothing as well.
Since it was noticed that Mohammed Belkhair had ordered steroids via internet, the news connected with dangers of getting steroids via internet were spread in the country. Thus, it turned out to be convenient for changing the laws in order to make purchases of steroids online illegal in Britain. The British government desires to make personal importation of steroids per mail and per internet criminal. It will be in near future. Although it is said that these laws will be enacted before the 2012 London Olympics, they are not still enacted.

Any sportsperson that comes to London for the Olympics may have steroids for self-administration under laws of the UK

Officers of the UK will be not able to stop sportspersons importing steroids to the UK, when they come to participate in the 2012 London Olympics. However administration of steroids is banned in sports, personal usage of these medicines is not criminal in the UK. Just sale of steroids is claimed to be illicit in this country. So, if a person wants to import amount of anabolic steroids which is evidentially large, he/she will not be permitted to do it.
Before Olympics took place in Australia, Canada and China, governments of these countries modified laws related to import and intake of steroids at least temporally. But the British government doesn’t want to alter steroid laws for the 2012 Olympics.
Ironically, however the government of the UK refuses to make personal administration of steroids criminal, Britain sportspeople are banned for lifetime, if they use anabolic steroids. As for the WADA Code, sportspersons who administer banned preparations are banned for 2 years.
The Olympic minister Hugh Robertson notes that it is important to have a universal law related to sentencing. This minister insists on at least four years or even longer.  While he is supported by the British Olympic Association, the UK Anti-Doping Agency doesn’t support such harsh punishment. Andy Parkinson, the CEO of the UK Anti-Doping Agency, thinks that certain sanctions should be softened.
Hugh Robertson acknowledges that there are different points of view in sports and it’s not well but he doesn’t ask Andy Parkinson to resign.
The spokesman for the minister has noticed that any sportsperson can have steroids in his/her luggage, when he/she comes to London. But the quantity of steroids should demonstrate that he/she has them only for personal administration. The spokesman has noted that it is not criminal for an athlete to use steroids under laws of the UK but if any athlete is caught administering banned products, he/she will be punished under anti-doping laws.
The UKAD noticed that they would cooperate with border control officials. Information about sportspersons will be utilized by anti-doping officials.
5, 000 drug tests will be conducted by the International Olympic Committee. 1, 000 of these tests will be blood tests.

Dysfunctions of heart and prolonged steroid use

Prolonged administration of anabolic steroids may cause different heart dysfunctions. It enhances risks related to heart failure. These affirmations have been made due to a research which has been presented in Circulation: Heart Failure, an American Heart Association journal.
Anabolic-androgenic steroids work like testosterone that occurs naturally and which is responsible for development of male sex characteristics.
The leader of the study Aaron L. Baggish confirms that in addition to the fact that anabolic steroids are illicit, they are associated with negative effects for health. He notes that it is the first time, when negative influence of prolonged administration of steroids on heart is clearly recognized.
The research demonstrated that the left ventricle in steroid users was essentially weaker during contraction than in those that didn’t take steroids.
A left ventricle which works properly pumps out 55-70 % of the blood that fills the heart.
12 steroid users were implicated in the study. It was displayed that the left ventricles of 83 % these steroid users worked incorrectly: they pumped out less than 55 % of the blood.   Among the examined non-users only one person had problems related to the function of the left ventricle.
The study demonstrated that ventricle relaxation among steroid users was reduced by about half. It was 0, 93 among consumers of steroids; 1, 80 – among non-steroid users. The structure of the left ventricle was the same in both groups: consumers of steroids and non-users.
It was used the test “Doppler echocardiography” for evaluation of function and structure of the left ventricle. This technique uses ultrasound for creation of moving pictures of the heart and its blood flow.
The group of steroid users included 12 weightlifters at the age of about 40 that noted that they applied about 675 mg of steroids a week for 9 years. The other group included weightlifters that didn’t use steroids. Both groups had similar physical activity and the same risks connected with heart problems. But they had differences in body weight and muscle size. The users of steroids had more muscular appearance.
Although small number of steroid users has been included in the research, the results have demonstrated that there is a close connection between usage of steroids and heart impairment.
The specialists decided to conduct further researches in order to support the results of this research.
Baggish and his colleagues suggest that people will comprehend that usage of steroids can results in heart troubles and different unexplained heart disorders in young persons.

Bodybuilders spend more time for consumption of food than for trainings

Bodybuilding doesn’t belong to exciting sports. Any bodybuilder may support this statement. Persons who are involved in bodybuilding spend much time at gyms, training; they prepare appropriate food and make endless researches. What is this work done for? – Only for 30 seconds on stage. Undoubtedly, if bodybuilders reach high results, they obtain awards, fame, and admiration of others. Their photos are posted on covers of fit magazines. They become celebrated.
Unluckily, the most of bodybuilders never reach this level because it is required much work and money for this purpose. But any bodybuilder hopes to achieve this level: to be a top bodybuilder, to obtain money and other prizes.
