A person that cares about 5 children and his wheelchair-bound wife is sentenced to jail for violation of steroid laws

The laws which ban usage of anabolic steroids have appeared due to certain conditions. They turned out to be responses to widespread usage of steroids in competitive sports. Anti-Doping Agencies believed that prohibition of steroids would keep professional sportspersons far from usage of illegal medicines. But criminalization of steroids influenced on intake of steroids by competitive sportspersons insignificantly.
The steroid laws commonly do not prosecute sportspeople that administrate illegal preparations. On the contrary, non-competitive sportspersons and recreational bodybuilders are usually targets of the steroid laws. They suffer due to results of violation of these laws.
This is not just one’s opinion. This is reality. Let realize: who is sentenced to imprisonment because of distributing steroids? For example, Ashley Dewayne Rivers of Alabama was sentenced to 5-month imprisonment because he had sold about $2000 worth of steroids to a physician. In fact, this person was not the target of a steroid investigation. He only turned out to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The estranged wife of this physician informed federal investigators that her husband was implicated in operations of black steroid market. So, the affirmation of this woman led to the situation, when the physician was investigated.
In fact, Rivers was a dealer of steroids for short period of time. This person sold these medicines to his friends. James Robinson, the defense attorney for Ashley Rivers, said that his client had recognized his guilty totally and taken the whole responsibility for his illegal actions. The attorney confirmed that Rivers was a good man. Although he broke the steroid laws, he realized the dangers and acknowledged his guilty.
James Robinson asked the judge to sentence Rivers Ashley just to probation. Rivers cared about his wheelchair-bound wife, 2 adopted children and 3 children of his disabled brother. In addition to these conditions, this man sacrificed about 40, 000 dollars for persons that lost their homes because of tornadoes. It would be better, if Rivers Ashley were sentenced to probation. Rivers Ashley would continue to work for his family and other individuals.
But Christopher Brinson, the Assistant U. S. Attorney, refused the request of the defense attorney James Robinson. He stated that this man committed a serious crime and he should serve time in jail. Although the judge was inclined to agree with the request of the defense attorney James Robinson at the beginning, finally he decided to agree with the Assistant U.S. Attorney and sentenced Rivers to 5 months in jail.
